Black Women Leaders Sask

We are a diverse group of women who immigrated from Africa, the Caribbean, and USA and now live, work, and play in Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Our stories will amaze and inspire you because they challenge the stereotype of the historically entrenched Black Woman schema. The schema depicts the Black Woman as strong, emotionless, indestructible, and capable of carrying everyone’s burdens on her shoulders. These Black Women, through the realism of their narratives, reconstruct the archetype to present a resemblance to the broken, the hurting, the voiceless, and the underdog, who, despite all odds, evolve into forces that blaze the trails for others.

“I am proud of the Sisterhood that has written this beautiful book. It is a great to witness a movement of soulful women aimed to help shift people from competition, comparison, judgement and jealousy to respect, love, unity and compassion. A movement that champions each other’s strengths, celebrates each other’s wins and shoulders together life’s disappointments.

Sisterhood is a universal movement inclusive of women of all backgrounds, ages and social status. It says you belong here, and your story matters.”
